Can You Implant Someone Else’s Hair?

We all know that hair is one of the most important things in our lives and a very important part of our appearance and when we start losing our hair, it feels like the end of the world to some people. And they might wanna go under surgery and get hair implants but some of them can not help themselves but ask this question; can you implant someone else’s hair? To find out the answer, we must know what is Hair Transplantation and the methods to do it.

What Is Hair Transplantation?

Hair Transplantation is the process of taking hair from a specific part of your body. Such as arms, hands, back, back of the head, and putting it to your hair to make them grow there. There are two different methods of doing this; FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) and FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). The best option for you will depend on your individual needs and the recommendations of your doctor.

The FUT method involves taking a small piece of skin with hair follicles from the chosen place on the body. Usually, this place is the back of your head where the hair is naturally fuller and less susceptible to balding. But also hair can be removed from other areas of the body such as the chest, arm, and back. From this piece of skin, small groups of tissue that contain hair follicles are removed and prepared for hair transplantation. While this is happening, very small holes are made in the place that you see balding occurring. Then those follicles are located in the holes and individually placed into the balding area.

The FUE technique of hair transplantation is a way to obtain the same FUT outcomes but without the drawbacks. Like FUT, FUE includes gathering hair follicles from the place the back of the head and locating them to create a hairline that looks fuller and more natural-looking. Unlike FUT, this method does not require removing a strip of tissue from the back of the head. Instead collecting individual hair follicles directly from the scalp itself and inserting them into very small holes that were made in the head area beforehand.

What are the Advantages of Hair Transplantation?

As there are pros and cons to everything in life, hair transplantation also has its own pros and cons. First of all, this operation is like a gift for people who suffer from baldness and hair thinning, the transplantation is usually done by taking hair from the body parts, and putting the hair in the desired area on the head. These body parts include the back, back of the head, arms, chest, which is the most popular, Because it is taken from you and contains your DNA, the hair looks really natural at the end.

Secondly, the places that have been implanted hair recovers really fast, if you follow the rules that are set by your doctor and rest the area for a few days, you will be able to do everything in your normal life. You also should no go under the sun with your new hairs for a few days as this may cause irritation to the skin.

Pain and Price

When it comes to pain hair implantation does not hurt at all. The operation is conducted with local anesthesia so you do not feel anything at all. This operation also does not leave a mark at all on the head. There will be no visible scars on your head which may look unpleasing to the eye. When it comes to price, there are a lot of countries which does hair transplantation at very low costs. The first country that does this surgery for cheap prices is Turkey. There are a lot of hospitals in this country that do this surgery and as this surgery is done at very low costs, Turkey is the most preferred country in the world for this surgery.

The Disadvantages

The first one is the process of this Implantation. It is very long, as long as 3 months, so the waiting process can be boring and annoying. Also, before the surgery, you have to see the doctor for 3 or 4 weeks as they will need to do a lot of tests on your head area. The second one is that if you get the hair implantation from not very professional doctors, you may face some really bad side effects. Such as losing all the hair on your hair, irritations, bleeding, and burning. And the last but not least, the head area may not accept the hair implants that are taken from your own body and do not accept it. This may cause a lot of damage to your head area and skin. And you may feel a lot of burning.

This can also cause extreme bleeding to your hair area. So before getting your hair implantations, consider all of these advantages and disadvantages and undergo the surgery at your own risk.

Can You Receive Hair From Another Person?

Some patients do not want their other body parts to be disturbed and they do not want to go under the surgery two times or they have gone under this surgery multiple times. So they believe that they do not have any donor places in their body. So they wonder if they can get some help from their friends or families, so they come up with this question, can you implant someone else’s hair?

When you transplant hair follicles from one individual to another, you are transferring tissue and DNA. If two individuals do not have an identical tissue DNA match then the immune system of the body refuses tissues taken from somebody else. Few or no hair survives after it has been inserted in the desired spot. The only way two people can have an exact tissue match is if they are identical twins. Furthermore, since hair loss is a genetic disorder, it is rare that one identical twin has a full head of hair. And the other is experiencing hair loss. So, unfortunately, the answer is no.
