Doctors and researchers are constantly on the lookout to develop new methods and technologies to improve our lives. In the area of hair loss treatment, there are some interesting techniques that are under trial and/or research. Some of these methods look quite promising while some are still highly experimental. We expect some new techniques to enter the market in the following years. We compiled three of these techniques that are under development for the curious souls out there. 

They are the following:

• WNT signal reactivation
• Hair multiplication
• Skin perturbation

While reading the following text, please consider that these techniques are still highly experimental. They are likely to be subject to setbacks before they hit the commercial market if they hit the commercial market at all.

WNT Signal Reactivation

A biotech company released some interesting data from one of its clinical trials in phase 2. The publication is about a topical medication (applied directly) for male pattern baldness. This medication restarts the WNT signal pathways that got disrupted. The function of WNT is to give cells certain signals. 

By means of reactivating these proteins, the researchers are trying to facilitate hair cell growth once more. The company is planning to begin the third phase of their research soon. We think that the following publications will give us a better idea about the viability of this medication.

Hair Multiplication

A partnership among various Japanese companies aims to deal with hair loss by means of hair multiplication. To put simply, the aim of this study is to multiply hair follicle cells from extracted follicles via cell culture.

And after growing more hair follicle cells in culture, the hair will be implanted as usual. This method aims to help people with insufficient donor follicle supply, either as an inborn trait or as a result of past hair transplantation. The team is planning to make hair multiplication commercially available in the near future.

Skin Perturbation 

A company from the United States of America is seeking an innovative approach to hair loss. This company is developing a topical compound. So this is how the procedure goes.

First, they peel (or perturberate) the uppermost layer of skin that needs to grow hair. They apply this topical solution that they are developing. The peeling of the top layer of scalp skin warns the cells around there to repair themselves. This topical solution then aims to alter the cells around here to become some sort of a stem cell (but not quite). 

When we peel the scalp skin, the body has the options to create either skin or hair cells. Researchers of this medication are trying to convince the body to create more hair cells. Currently, the researchers are conducting trials on both human and mice specimens. They expect to complete their trials soon and release the topical solution as a commercial product.

Like mentioned earlier, all three of these methods are still under works. We are all crossing our fingers for further and better developments.
