How to Prepare for Liposuction?

Liposuction is today’s one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. The risk of encountering complications is very low. Moreover, the procedure is completely painless since the patient is under anaesthesia during the whole procedure. And that is exactly why so many men and women opt for this procedure to deal with their weight issues.

The doctors in our facility have been performing liposuction operations for years, and this experience makes them perfect for this procedure. That is the reason why our patients are highly satisfied with the results that we provide.

The success rate of a liposuction operation is very high. But if you want to eliminate all the risks and make sure you have a smooth experience, there are a couple of things you can do. If you consult one of the doctors in our facility, they are going to guide you through all the steps of the liposuction procedure.

Taking your time to prepare for the liposuction operation is something we recommend to all our patients. When you follow the instructions given by your doctor, you will heal much quicker, and the risk of having complications will be minimal. So we are going to list some of the things you should do before the liposuction operation.

Avoid Shaving the Liposuction Area

You may feel like shaving your body before the liposuction operation to make the operation easier or to look more aesthetically pleasing during the operation. However, shaving will not help anything during the operation. And it will increase the risk of having infections. Therefore, you should not shave the area of your body where you will receive the liposuction.

Stay Away from Alcohol

You need to stop drinking alcohol at least one week before the liposuction operation. Alcohol has a blood-thinning effect, and this may cause complications during the operation. Drinking water instead of alcohol will not only remove this risk but also hydrate and nourish your body better.

Do Not Smoke

Cigarettes or any other tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes, are going to be harmful for the operation. Because they have nicotine, and nicotine will slow down your recovery process. It can also cause complications during the operation. So it is recommended to avoid smoking even after the operation for about a week.

Stop Taking Aspirin

Aspirin is a blood-thinning medication, and if you take it, the blood clotting ability of your body will be greatly reduced. This may pose some risks during the operation and also slow down the recovery process. So if you have a headache, take paracetamol instead. And make sure that you are not taking any kind of medication without informing your doctor.

Wear Loose Clothes during the Surgery

Wearing loose clothes on the day of the surgery may be quite helpful for you. Because after you leave the liposuction, you do not want to be squeezing your body into anything.

Tell Your Doctor about Your Medical History

Your doctor needs to know about the medical procedures you have had in the past. If there is anything that may be risky for performing the operation, you have to share it with your doctor. Therefore, every detail is important. When your doctor asks you questions about your medical history, make sure you answer everything in detail. This is mostly for your sake and to enhance the success rate of your procedure.
