Which Breast Surgery Is Right for You?

Explaining Augmentations, Lifts, and ReductionsNo two women are exactly alike. So each set of breasts must also be different.

Determining which breast surgery is right for you is a matter of first determining the exact characteristics of your breasts. Your personal sensibilities and expectations also play a part in determining which breast surgery is right for you.

Assessing Your Breast Situation

The following are the most classic breast situations wherein women that might need breast surgery find themselves.

  • Enlarged breasts. Breasts that are too large in relation to the body and tend to be unwieldy. They may restrict mobility and clothing choices and also can produce chronic back pain. A breast reduction procedure can help.
  • Small breasts. Breasts that shrank due to lack of nutrients or breasts that never fully developed. This situation has an adverse psychological effect on how their owner perceives themselves in comparison to larger breasts of other women. Breast enhancement or fat transfer breast enhancement can help in this case.
  • Saggy breast. Formerly perky breasts that have lost their elasticity due to a variety of possible reasons. They hang uncomfortably, separated considerably from the pectoral region. Either a breast lift or breast reduction can help address this.

It is necessary to carefully observe the state of your breasts, asses what might need enhancing and proceed from there.

Breast Surgery

Several different cosmetic procedures to alter the breasts are available. Chief among them are the following:

Breast Reduction

It starts by making an incision around the areola, which then continues downwards to the underside crease of the breast. The surgeon proceeds to excise the excess breast tissue, removes the skin, and suck the fat out through liposuction. The surgeon then reshapes the remaining breast tissue, skin, and fat back into the form of a breast that is much smaller than before. The nipple and areola are also relocated into a proper place on these new breasts. Finally, the suturing of the incisions puts together the new breasts.

Breast Lift

The initial incisions for the procedure depend on how much tissue there is to remove. It goes from the areola and extends to the underside of the breast or horizontally across the breast creases.

From the said incision, the excision of the excessive stretched-out skin proceeds. The surgeon proceeds to “pull up” the remaining skin to start the lifting of the breasts. Sutures applied deep in the breast tissue close the incisions. Nipples and areolas are also lifted, so their new positions match the proportions of the lifted breast correctly.

Breast Augmentation and Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Depending on the size of the breasts, the incision goes either into the underside of the breast or around the armpit. A silicone gel-filled implant is inserted through it just beneath the layer of breast tissue. Nipples are also stretched to match the new breast size. Finally, suturing the incision forms the new, larger breasts.

Alternatively, a liposuction procedure can transfer fat from elsewhere in the body into the breasts. This procedure is only performed to create discrete augmentations of around a half or full cup size.
