Female Hair Loss: FUE Is A Great Solution

For those who suffer from it, hair loss can be a great source of anxiety and low self-esteem for many. Especially women, due to the beauty standards surrounding them, are highly susceptible to feeling under the weather due to hair related problems. There are hundreds of products on the market claiming to stop, even reverse hair loss for both women and men. Though most of these products turn out to be utter shams. Most are totally ineffective, while some of them merely address certain deficiencies. On average women with hair loss problems spend more than men with the same issue.

Medications For Women’s Hair Loss

Hereditary (androgenetic alopecia) hair loss in women is less responsive to the hair loss medications on the market. This mostly stems from differences in hormone production. Many of the hair loss medications are developed with male pattern hair loss in mind. Hence there is yet to be an effective ailment for women.

Take finasteride, for example, which is the most commonly prescribed hair loss medication. This medication works by blocking the production of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Males have more DHT compared to women and women carry a higher risk of developing side effects from finasteride.

FUE, Our Saviour

Many women experience an all-around type of hair loss. We call this type of hair loss diffuse. The problem with this kind of hair loss is, women also tend to lose hair from the donor area as well. Though this only applies to some women and many women simply keep their donor’s hair. For such women, FUE hair transplant is probably the most effective and efficient technique for hair restoration.

FUE In Detail

For an FUE procedure, we shave the back of the scalp (occipital area) and extract hair from here with micromotors. Our experts anaesthetise the operation areas so that the patient experiences zero discomfort throughout the procedures in FUE.

After the extraction, our team counts and lines up follicles in a special solution. Meanwhile, our expert administers the anaesthesia to the recipient area. Then the expert doctor opens tiny slots for follicles that we call canals. The number of canals is proportionate to the number of grafts, of course. After the canals are open, the medical team joins in and together they insert follicles in the canals one by one. As the follicles are a delicate tissue, they require careful handling, and that’s why this phase usually takes the longest.

After FUE

When the operation is over, the team will give you instructions about how you should take care of your hair. Around 6 months after the surgery, the follicles will start popping out from where we put them. After approximately 12 to 18 months, you will see that most of the implanted follicles are active.
