How to Prevent Eyebrow Hair Loss

Eyebrows make up an important part of our faces. They allow us to perform expressions to communicate with onlookers visually. But eyebrows are also hairs like the one on top of the head, which means eyebrows are also susceptible to the effects of baldness.

Hair loss in the eyebrows is nothing new. And just like hair loss from your hairline, it also happens due to a multitude of reasons. Knowing the reasons allows you to know how to prevent eyebrow hair loss, allowing you to stay one step ahead of hair loss and keep those precious eyebrows.

Precautions to Prevent Eyebrow Hair Loss

There are several precautions to take to prevent eyebrow hair loss effectively. They are the following.

Avoid Overplucking

Overplucking is a remnant of a time when thin eyebrows were all the rage in fashion; that time seems to have passed now, however. Those who bought into overplucking for so long have found themselves now surprised and upset that their eyebrows are not growing back as much. Well, they shouldn’t.

When you pluck the eyebrow to make it thin, you are ripping the hair off its root, the hair follicle. Repeatedly doing this can damage it beyond repair, ceasing to grow hair from there. Lay down on the tweezers if you want to see eyebrows hair growth in the foreseeable future.

Go Easy on the Makeup

Eyebrow makeup can actually be harmful and lead to hair loss. Whether it is from applying the makeup using too much pressure or putting too much of it, weighing and pulling the hair causes it to fall. Manage your use of makeup, and make sure to remove it before going to bed.

Relax

Continuous, extreme levels of stress can trigger a hair loss condition known as “telogen effluvium.” In this condition, most of your hair will forcefully enter into the resting phase of the hair growth cycle, called the telogen phase.

Entering that phase means the hair is no longer growing. It is awaiting to fall to make room for their replacement, but new hair is unlikely to grow until the condition resolves.

Not more than 30% of your hair should be on that phase at any given time. Relax, stop worrying, and meditate or remove yourself from stressful situations if you have to.

Apply Some Natural Solutions

There are quite a number of natural oils and juices known to stimulate hair growth successfully for centuries now. And you can use them to prevent eyebrows hair loss as well.

  • Egg yolk. Break an egg and separate the yolk. Beat the yolk until it’s all cream. Grab a cotton swab and apply it to your eyebrows. Let it stay there for 20 minutes before rinsing.
  • Onion juice. Grab an onion, squeeze, and collect the juice out of it. Moist your finger on the juice and massage your eyebrows with it for 10 minutes. Let it dry after and rinse it out before going to bed.
  • Milk. Drench a cotton swab in milk. Pass it over the eyebrows for 10 minutes. Let it dry after and rinse it out before going to bed.
  • Aloe vera. Massage your eyebrows with your fingers covered in aloe vera. Let it rest there for 30 minutes, then rinse it out.

Pick one that you can apply daily and watch your hair growth after six months of continuous treatment. Patience and consistency are key to this treatment.
