The Difference Between DHI and FUE

It is important to know the differences between DHI and FUE. There are differences between the two hair transplant procedures. Hair loss problems can happen to everyone, regardless of whether they are men or women, with many different factors. Sometimes there are environmental factors, stress, boredom, fatigue, seasonal changes. In these cases, it can be preventable. However, sometimes the biggest factor is genetic factors. In this case, it may not be prevented. Maybe shampoos, vitamins, etc. can be slowed down. But this is temporary.

In cases where hair loss cannot be prevented, it is the most logical decision to consult a hair transplant specialist. This problem, which was not so much trouble in the past, has attracted great attention with the importance given to developing technology and visuality, and the number of people who have hair transplantation has increased day by day. A natural appearance can be achieved when the correct method of hair transplantation is applied and when applied by real experts. Hair sparseness becomes unobtrusive. Finding the right method is a matter of course that requires professionalism.

People who will undergo hair transplantation generally refer to experts with questions such as FUE hair transplantation and DHI hair transplantation. It questions which one has more advantages and whether there is a big financial difference between them. Are there really big differences between them? What are these hair transplant techniques? Why does the material difference between them arise?

What is FUE Hair Transplantation and DHI Hair Transplantation?

The FUE technique and DHI method are the first concepts that people who start researching about hair transplantation come across. It is wondered what these concepts are and how there are differences between them. After interviews or research with experts, there may be an ambivalence between FUE hair transplantation and DHI hair transplantation. First of all, what should be known no matter what application is more advantageous, which is the most suitable method for the candidate who will have hair transplantation.

Before the hair transplant, the necessary controls and examinations are made. As a result, the most risk-free method is chosen. To give an example, we can talk about a candidate who has a bleeding disorder. The FUE technique can be dangerous in a patient with a high risk of bleeding. Because, as understood in the FUE method, there may be bleeding. Another example relates to time. A person with intense hair thinning may want to have a procedure with the DHI technique in a short time. In this case, FUE will be recommended. Because the DHI technique takes more time than the FUE hair transplant method. In summary, when the differences between the two are known, the right hair transplant method can be chosen.

FUE Hair Transplant

FUE, a term that people who want to have hair transplantation will hear very often, is called Follicular Unit Extraction. It is a successful and highly efficient method of hair transplantation if performed under the control of advanced materials and specialist doctors. It is a technique used both during graft collection and during hair transplantation. As a result of the examination by the doctor, if this method is decided, the date is determined and the procedures take place.

In the FUE hair transplant method, the patient’s hair is first shortened to a length of 3 mm. The area to be transplanted is anesthetized with local anesthesia. The only thing that will be felt in the head during the application will be local anesthesia needles. After the numbness, grafts are collected with special tools called micromotors. For those who do not know what is called graft; It is the hair follicle containing a piece of tissue. The reason why it contains tissue is that it fuses with the tissues under the skin when the hair transplantation takes place and the hair transplantation gives successful results. Roots called grafts can be single or multiple as two, three, and four.

At this stage, the issue to be considered is that the angle of the hair can be adjusted correctly. At this point, expertise comes into play. Because damage to hair follicles means not getting efficient results. The roots collected in hair follicle harvesting will begin to die within 2-3 hours at room temperature. However, even if all these roots are kept in special liquids, they can survive for an average of 6 hours. For this reason, they are kept in cold isotonic or hyposol liquids. After local anesthesia, the channels to be planted are also opened. Special needles are used in this.

What is DHI Hair Transplant?

DHI hair transplantation, known as direct hair transplantation, is actually a variation of the FUE technique. Because there are the same steps in this method, and the root harvesting process takes place as in the FUE technique. However, the difference occurs in the planting section. DHI hair transplantation differs from all other methods. Thanks to the special pen called Choi Implanter, there is no need for any shaving in the area to be treated. Even the most preferred method by women is this DHI method. The reason for this is that the unshaved procedures we have just mentioned are performed.

What are the Differences Between FUE and DHI?

What to know about FUE hair transplantation and DHI hair transplantation has been explained above. Let’s look at the differences between them. Thus, people who will have a hair transplant can decide which one is more suitable.

  • The most important difference between the two techniques is their application method. While the roots collected with FUE are kept in the container, those collected with DHI are directly planted.
  • In the FUE technique, an average of 50% less than the hair follicle that is transplanted in one session, that is, the graft, is performed in a single session with DHI. For this reason, DHI is a longer method.
  • In the DHI method, there is almost no bleeding compared to the FUE technique, and the healing process is shorter. It is the special pen used that provides this.
  • The FUE technique is successful when planting in larger areas. DHI hair transplantation enables transplantation in much narrower areas thanks to the thin tip of the special pen used. In summary, it is suitable for more intensive planting in narrower areas.
  • Hair shaving is a mandatory condition in the FUE technique. In the DHI technique, it is sufficient to shave only the area to be transplanted.
  • The cost is higher as the tools used in the DHI technique are more expensive and the application time is twice as long as the FUE technique.
